Water heater:

Water heater installation
Take a trip to your local home improvement center and purchase your new water heater. The new water heater should conform to the same type of heating you currently have in your home. Next, you want to pick a water heater size. The larger the water heater (in gallons), the more hot water you have on reserve for using it in things like laundry, showers, or dishes.

Before you begin your installation, turn your water off. Specifically, turn off the water supply valve that runs into the house. This supply valve should be located just before your water meter. If you are replacing a water heater, be sure to turn off the circuit to the water heater to avoid shocks. If you have a water heater, turn off the line to the heater. Once you have turned the off, the pilot light should be extinguished. Check to make sure.
